About
I grew up in Indianapolis and studied studio art at Colorado College, with a minor in women’s studies. After graduation, I moved to Los Angeles to study textile design at Otis Parsons, which led to several years designing prints for children’s wear and working in the textile industry. From there, my creative practice expanded to include bespoke hats, jewelry, handmade books, and home decor. I also spent years painting murals, applying gold leaf, and creating decorative finishes for interior design projects.
In 1994, I launched my own business focused on painting furniture and interiors for high-end restaurants, hotels, and private residences. Around that time, I discovered the work of textile designer Vera Neumann and began collecting her pieces—eventually amassing a collection of over 800 designs. That passion evolved into an online shop, where I sold pillows crafted from vintage Vera textiles.
Since 2015, my primary focus has been painting. Working mainly in oil on canvas or board, my art is deeply informed by my background in textiles—especially a love of pattern, design, and color. I often begin with photographs, which serve as a starting point to explore composition and visual rhythm. I’m drawn to everyday objects—citrus fruit, textiles, ceramics, and domestic interiors—as vehicles for celebrating beauty in the ordinary.
Photography plays an important role in my process; I use it as a sketchbook to study variations in light, form, and structure. Subjects like fruit, dishes, scarves, windows, and portraits become ways to explore bold color relationships, compositional tension, and moments of quiet reflection. At the heart of my work is an ongoing inquiry into design, stillness, and the emotional resonance of the spaces and objects that surround us
